Learn how to create Individual Mode, Shared Mode and third-party device profiles, and how to apply these to your Meta Quest for Business devices.

What is the difference between Individual Mode and Shared Mode in Meta Quest for Business?

Individual Mode

Individual Mode is designed for Meta Quest devices used by a single person within your organisation. Users must be 18 years or older (or of legal age according to your local regulations) to utilise a Meta Quest for Business device in Individual Mode.

In Individual Mode:

  • Account Assignment: Each Meta Quest device is linked to one managed Meta account.
  • Meta Horizon Profile: Users will need to set up a Meta Horizon profile the first time they log into their Meta Quest.
  • Device Profiles: Admins can either create a shared Individual Mode profile for multiple devices or configure each device independently.

Devices in Individual Mode come pre-installed with the following system apps and services:

  1. First Steps for Quest 2
  2. Messenger
  3. Meta Quest Browser
  4. Meta Quest Guide
  5. Meta Quest Move
  6. Meta Quest Scoreboards
  7. Remote Display (Beta)
  8. Timer
  9. Voice Commands
  10. VR Animation Player

Shared Mode

Shared Mode is a paid add-on for Meta Quest for Business, ideal for training or demonstration scenarios. Users must be 13 years of age or older (or of legal age as per local regulations) to use a Meta Quest device in Shared Mode.

In Shared Mode:

  1. Device Usage: Multiple users can access the device without needing to log in with a managed Meta account or Meta Horizon profile.
  2. Profile Management: Admins can create a Shared Mode device profile to apply to multiple devices or configure each device individually.
  3. App Access: Users will only have access to apps that admins have added to the Shared Mode device or profile.
  4. Customisation: Admins can customise the Shared Mode session introduction steps and set up a single-app experience if desired.
